AVG PROBLEMS

Some complaints of are customers

I know I should not complain too much because I am using just a free version of their product but I think if the limited features I am using is problematic then Premium or Pro users might have many problems too. It is frustrating how the antivirus gets off in random times when I use my USB disk. It deletes my files and oftentimes blocks some small applications that I need to install.

After my Trial of AVG PRO with windows 10, I have a pop up window that will not minimize and can not be closed in the task manager for AVG, to "BUY NOW"... If it’s AVG Free let it be free and don’t solicit me on my computer. AVG's pop up window crashes programs, and prevents me using my screen for other things like WORK! If I want your premium service AVG I’ll buy it. If your business model gives a free version which I think is awesome, then don’t solicit. I've bought your full version before and it is great, but harassing me to do so is wrong.

Just bought a new computer in December 2015. I was advised by a tech person to get AVG. Got the whole thing at a cost of . One plan for two year the other one year. In april, the 13th, I get a restart your computer after a scan. Lost my internet, my email and many other icon. Checked with Microsoft, they could not figure it out. Checked with internet provider. They could not figure it out. Called AVG and guess what for they could repair it. Needless to say I went to nerds on site and they totally fixed the problem for  Now I am after AVG for the cost incurred and the refund of my plan with them - as of today I am going nowhere. I am in contact with AVG international here in Ottawa. My contact there has returned my calls. My next step will be to take them to small claim court. All of this happened in a span of 4 months.

I've renewed twice but have been reading everywhere that this is not the best anti-virus so I decided to let my renewal go. Now I get a pop up every few days and sometimes every day asking me to renew but not allowing me to cancel the pop-up. Please don't subscribe or you will be plagued forever. They know what they are doing. I'm filing separately with the state's attorney general.

I used AVG Internet for some time and after the first year my subscription renewed automatically. AVG sent me a link and when I clicked on this link the system downloaded two new programmes - AVG Protection and AVG Zen. I didn't understand the difference and why these programmes differed from my subscription. I contacted AVG Tech Support and was given a complex answer which didn't make much sense. My system did work so I just carried on using AVG Protection.

Install AVG free, because it's what I have trusted and recommended to friends for years as a solid free anti-virus to have in the background in addition to Malwarebytes every few days. By default it installs zen and PC tuneup. Don't think much of it because I don't use extensive features of the program so it shouldn't ever be an issue, but then... Wait, what's this!? Oh my trial period has expired. Well that's incredibly annoying that I was forced into a trial, considering a trial implies I was compliant in trying the product. I figure, "oh well I can just uninstall it I guess". Go to control panel to programs to do what I thought would be a quick uninstall and a *small* waste of my time. But of course, why would you give an option to uninstall what is described as a separate program? So in short, it wasn't an option in programs under the control panel.Install AVG free, because it's what I have trusted and recommended to friends for years as a solid free anti-virus to have in the background in addition to Malwarebytes every few days. I've used AVG free for decades, and always loved them before. However as of March 2016 they have had this absolutely annoying billboard ad that randomly pops up and will take over my screen- even when in a game. I can accept the need to advertising in AVG, but after two or three dozen times of clicking "no thanks", you'd think they would get the hint. Apparently this billboard ad can't be removed in any way, and has got to stop. I am saddened to say I will be dropping my use of AVG over this until their marketing department can pull their collective heads out of you-know-where.

AVG with Spybot & Disconnect Me has never failed. AVG with Spybot and Disconnect Me have been 100% effective on 10 computers for over a decade. Other than getting a message I need to delete old and download new version every 2 years, it auto updates, runs in background. Best combo is AVG, Spybot and Disconnect Me. The pkg has never failed.

I had a hard time figuring out all it did in the beginning and the folks at customer support were patient, very clear and concise and extremely respectful and helpful. There is a disk cleaner, there is a web protector, there is an email protector, there are several items to do a variety of things for me including keeping my hard drive cleaned up. I know with AVG I am protected from the latest viruses and will not lose the information I have on my computer nor will it be compromised. I have yet to have an issue with AVG and I've had it for over 5 yrs. I'd say that's reliable by any standard. I would highly recommend this software.
